The Breast Cancer Wars: Hope, Fear and the Pursuit a cure in Twentieth – Century America written by Dr. Barron Lerner, a clinical (Associate Professor of Medicine and Public Health at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. The author is also an accomplished medical historian with Ph.D. He is son of a breast cancer survivor.
In this book, the author takes the reader through the controversies surrounding beast cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention, depicting them to be unfair, frustrating, sometimes ridiculous and totally unfair to breast cancer patients.
This book “The Breast Cancer Wars is not “how to” book, rather it makes available to the women folk in particular and men in general a wealth of rewired background information that will aid them to be savvy and sophisticated on any issue as far as breast cancer is being discussed or concerned.
The book is a very important book with first class hidden history, thought frightening ,fascinating and thought provoking, you need to read it so as to enable you call a spade a spade “Breast Cancer War” is the most insightful and helpful book on breast cancer. The author provides readable, comprehensive, balanced book in which he took pains to examine what can be termed one of the most sensitive, emotional and controversial areas in all of cancer diagnosis including treatment. The author also delved deeply into Breast Cancer and the Radical Mastectomy.
The book is strongly recommended to any one who wants to understand the genesis of an illness, the treatment and the various forces that comes to play from individual to societal.
